Lets face it. Advertising on eBay can get expensive. You can spend more on advertising than your items are worth if you arent careful.
Listing a single item for auction on eBay can cost anywhere from the minimum of $0.35 on up to several dollars and the advertisement is only good for a maximum of 10 days.
After the time limit that you have chosen expires and the item hasnt sold, you are either just out the advertising cost or you must re-list your item for an additional fee.
This can make drastic cuts into your profit margin or either erases it altogether.
There is a better and much less expensive way to advertise your merchandise on eBay and that way is to set up a store on eBay rather than auctioning individual items.
This isnt to say that you should never put items up for auction but the auction should only be used to attract customers to your eBay store.
Setting up a store on eBay can cost less than ten dollars per month. It wouldnt take a lot of single auction fees to cost more than ten dollars each month. Setting up a store on eBay is very simple to do.
You dont have to have thousands of items for sale to have an eBay store. Nobody expects you to have as much merchandise as Wal-Mart.
Going the extra mile to make your first time customers repeat customers is a huge advertising cost cutting measure, as well.
Not including a catalog or a flyer in each and every order that you ship is just....well...there isnt another word for it...DUMB.
It costs five times as much to sell to a new customer as it does to sell to a repeat customer.
Contacting those who have purchased from you before every month or so offering a bargain is a way to cut advertising costs on eBay.
