New Opt-Ins

New Opt-Ins
New subscribers to your newsletter or new people who have opted into your mailing list in order to get whatever the incentive is that you are offering can be compared to a real world shopper who is simply browsing through a new store.
They arent there to buy...they are there to look around....see what you have...see if you have anything that they may be interested in buying.
When a person (and person is the key word here) opts into your mailing list for whatever reason, they need to immediately receive a thank you or welcoming email.
Send a thank you email if they signed up for your news letter and express a desire to provide them with timely information that they can use.
If they have simply opted in to get whatever the incentive is that you are offering, send them an email that says that you hope they enjoy the free gift and if you can be of any service to them to please let you know.
Tell all new opt-ins that they will be receiving offers from you on occasion for products or services that may be of use to them but that they are, of course, under no obligation to buy anything from you.
Never send a marketing email disguised as a welcoming or thank-you email. In your first email to a new opt-in member do not try to sell anything. They will be looking for the opt-out button if you do.
They have given you permission to email them but they dont believe that they have set themselves up as a target for you to try to sell to.
Give your new opt-ins an opportunity to get to know you and to feel comfortable about you before you try to sell to them.
